If you were counting on a trip to Walmart to pick up a final Christmas gift or forgotten ingredient, think again.
Christmas is the one day of year that the nation’s largest retailer closes all of its U.S. stores, and several regional and national stores follow suit, including Target, Macy’s, Kohl’s, Home Depot and more.
According to an analysis by Womply, a small business software provider, 92% of local retailers are closed on Christmas Day.
But there are a few exceptions. Drugstore chains CVS and Walgreens are open and some grocery stores will open with limited hours.
Few restaurants will be open but many convenience stores will be open. Sheetz and Cumberland Farms are even offering an incentive for making a Christmas trip – free coffee. Sheetz’s giveaway is all day and Cumberland Farms is from 8 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Wednesday.
And after closing Wednesday, many stores will open early Thursday for shoppers looking to exchange gifts or take advantage of after Christmas sales.
