University of Michigan Public Safety’s deputy police of chief Melissa Overton recounts what happened after reports of an active shooter came in through police dispatch.
Reports of an active shooter on the campus of the University of Michigan appear unfounded, according to a statement released from the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s office.
The University of Michigan Division of Public Safety & Security (DPSS) officially cleared the campus at about 7:50 p.m.
The update follows an emergency alert sent just before 5 p.m. from DPSS to “run hide fight” because of reports of an active shooter at Mason Hall on its Ann Arbor campus.
Police and students were seen swarming the area.
